ACTION

Glycerin acts primarily osmotically, binding water in the large intestine, which increases the water content of the stool and facilitates bowel movements. Additionally, it has a mild peristaltic effect.

CHARACTERISTICS/USP

Fast-acting: bowel movement is usually achieved within 5 minutes (although it may take up to 30 minutes)
Does not interact with other medications
Can be used as a supplement to chronic constipation treatments
Contains plant-based glycerin

DOSAGE & USAGE

For children aged 2-6 years: 1 pediatric enema. Allow at least 3 minutes without a bowel movement for full effect.

For children aged 6 years and older: 1 pediatric enema. Allow at least 3 minutes without a bowel movement for full effect. If bowel movement does not occur within 30 minutes, a second enema may be administered within the next hour.

Using a higher dosage may cause irritation of the bowel, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
